Latest updates on crisis - Doha rejects Gulf demands as deadline looms Saudi Arabia, UAE, Bahrain and Egypt dramatically cut ties with Qatar and imposed an unprecedented land, sea and air blockade a month ago. –– ADVERTISEMENT –– Qatar now has until midnight local time today to accept the allies' list of 13 demands - including the closure of pan-Arab TV channel Al Jazeera - in order to be welcomed back into the fold. But the defiant wealthy Gulf state has said the unrealistic list of demands were "meant to be rejected”. Qatar has already sent its full response to Kuwaiti mediators. Officials from the UAE and Saudi Arabia have suggested that more sanctions, including the possibility of kicking Qatar out of the Gulf Cooperation Council, could be imposed if Doha fails to heed the demands. As the deadline looms, here are live updates, breaking news and the most recent information on the escalating Gulf crisis. (All times BST)

But the international community's refusal to provide weapons has been brought into question. "We need weapons to defend ourselves. Why the regime can get weapons from Russia, from Iran, to kill people, and the victims can't save their lives, can't protect themselves," new head of the SNC, George Sabra said. A sharp debate took place on Tuesday among Arab senior diplomats and ministers during a meeting at the Arab League (AL) headquarters in Cairo over charges against Qatar of supporting terrorism.    During the meeting, the representatives of Egypt, Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Bahrain accused Qatar of financing terror groups and interfering in other countries' domestic affairs.    For his part, Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs rejected the accusations as baseless and inaccurate, charging the four Arab states that imposed a blockade on Qatar of attempting to infringe on its sovereignty.    The debate came during the 148th ordinary session of the AL council at the level of foreign ministers.    Earlier in June, the four countries led by Saudi Arabia severed diplomatic ties with Qatar, accusing Doha of supporting terrorism, interfering in their internal affairs and seeking closer ties with Iran, a Saudi rival.    Qatar strongly denied the charges and rejected a list of 13 demands put forward by the bloc for resuming diplomatic ties.
